To study the principles of Income tax, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the basic concepts and theories.  It is also helpful to read case studies that illustrate how these principles are applied in real-world situations. Taking notes and creating summaries of the key concepts and ideas can help with retention and understanding. Additionally, practice solving MCQs, critical thinking and analysis when reviewing the material can help develop a deeper understanding of the principles of Income tax. Finally, discussing the principles with others, such as classmates or professors, can help reinforce understanding and provide different perspectives on the subject matter. To study this course, ideally you shall know the concept and its relevance followed by its emergence as a discipline. Unit one is about the concept, relevance, emergence, principles & techniques of Income tax, it includes the concept of residential status. Unit two discussed various heads of income such as income from salary and income from house property. Unit three gives clarity on remaining heads such as profit & gains from business & profession, income from capital gains and income from other sources. The last unit gives in depth knowledge on deduction under section 80.  The syllabus is evenly distributed across all units. There are certain case studies towards the end of each unit to help you learn practicing the freshly learnt content. Given in the Annexures are presentation slides and videos to aid your learning.

Certificate Eligibility:

Dr. Ashima Saxena

The NorthCap University
Dr. Ashima Saxena is associated with The NorthCap University in the area of Finance. Her research area includes Behavioural Finance, Financial investment decisions, and Cognitive behavioral therapy. She has over 8 years of experience including in academics & research. Before joining NCU, she was associated with Manav Rachna University, Faridabad as Assistant Professor.  She has also worked with Jagannath International Management School, affiliated with Guru Gobind Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and KR Mangalam Institute of Management. She was awarded Ph.D. for a thesis in the area of Behavioural Finance in the year 2019. 

Dr. Saxena has published more than 30 research papers in National & International level journals, presented 15 papers in National & International Conferences, and attended various workshops, FDPs, and seminars. She has also published 8 patents in her name. She has authored one textbook on Financial Management. She also has 2 edited books in her name. She has undergone various online courses from universities like the University of Michigan, Duke University, the University of London, the University of California, Santa Cruz, Yale University, Rice University, and the Indian School of Business. Currently,  1 scholar is pursuing her doctoral research under her guidance.
